Michael Eugene Jenkins, age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on July 6, 1953, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Michael was the beloved son of the late Carl and James lee Jenkins. From a young age, Michael embodied generosity, loyalty, and a deep love for family. During his high school years, he spent his summers working as a youth counselor at Montvale Summer Camp, where he made a lasting impact on the children he guided. After graduating from Alcoa High School, he briefly attended the University of Tennessee before beginning a path of hard work and service. He worked at Sears & Roebuck before proudly joining the United States Navy. Following his military service, Michael returned home and dedicated several years to the American Red Cross as a driver for the Blood Mobile. He later retired, embracing a simple, meaningful life filled with the things he loved most.An avid fisherman, Michael took every opportunity to spend time near the water with friends and family. He especially enjoyed visiting his favorite uncle, the late George Jenkins. Michael enjoyed traveling and cruises with his family, he often could be found firing up a grill—never with charcoal, always with his trusted bag of wood chips. A devoted sports fan, he loved cheering on the Atlanta Falcons and the Tennessee Vols. Michael was also a proud Navy veteran, known for wearing his veteran baseball caps almost everywhere he went.Michael leaves to cherish his memory his son, Michael Shane Mostella (Diane) of Richmond VA; his loving sisters, Dorothy Jenkins and Joyce A. Jones of Maryville, TN, whom he affectionately called “Ginger.” He is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; his favorite cousins, Jeanette Davis-Chesney, DeAndrea Davis, Steven Jenkins, Toni Freeman; and his lifelong friend, Kelvin Lynn Walton.He is now reunited with his parents; his sister Carletta Gibbs; his brothers Albert Jenkins and James Jenkins; and a lifetime of cherished family and friends who welcomed him home.A special thank you is extended to his nephew, Dr. Derrick A. Jones, for his unwavering care and support.A Military Memorial Service will be held in the near future honoring Michael.
