Leone "Lee" Wood

Leone “Lee” Wood, formerly of Springfield, VT, died Friday, May 23, 2025, in Atlanta, GA. She was born September 7, 1939, at Lancaster, NH, the daughter of Stuart and Thelma Gray Nugent. She graduated from Groveton, NH, High School in June 1957, and The Mary Fletcher School of Nursing in Burlington, VT, in 1960.

Lee married John Wood, son of Roger and Margaret Spaulding Wood, in Springfield, VT, May 5, 1962. Before her marriage she worked as an operating room nurse at Mary Fletcher Hospital and, after her marriage she worked briefly in the operating room at Springfiled Hospital. She was a charge nurse at Springfield Health and Rehab from 1973 to 2002, when she and her husband moved to Roswell, GA.

In her spare time Lee was an accomplished artist, painting in oils and in later years creating fabric art. She also enjoyed playing her clarinet and played in the Groveton, NH High School Band, Springfield, VT, Community Band, and the Keene State College Concert Band. While living in Roswell, she played in the Atlanta Concert Band with her daughters, Stacey and Kristen.

Lee was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband: John Wood; brothers: Perry Nugent and his wife Chris, of Charleston, SC and Noel Nugent and his wife Maty, of Queretaro, Mexico; and by her and John’s three children: Kevin and his wife Kate Fisher, of Naples, FL, daughter Stacey and her husband Robert Retter, of Marietta, GA, and Kristen and her husband, Dan Ciprari, of Atlanta, GA; as well as Lee and John’s three grandchildren, Simon, Luke, and Grayson Ciprari.
