Judith Lynne Byers-Vall

Judy Vall passed away peacefully early Monday morning, days before her 83rd birthday. Her daughter, Emily Anne, was by her side. A dedicated Mother, Stepmother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend to so many, Judy’s bright and cheerful presence will be incredibly missed.

Self-proclaimed “The Luckiest Woman Alive” Judy always had a smile to share and words of encouragement to offer. She never met a stranger, making everyone instantly feel at ease and cared for. Judy loved spending time with family and friends, walking and exploring parks and quaint towns, trying new restaurants and coffee spots, and playing with her cat while solving crossword puzzles. An avid reader, Judy loved mysteries and had a passion for singing and community theater. She also adored her sobriety community and held her “sisters” close.

Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Vall; her brother Christopher Byers; her mother Renalda Denning Byers; her father Dr. Robert James Byers and his wife Anna Rosa Byers.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Emily Anne Vall and grandson, Max Byers Vall; by her younger brother Robert Byers; by her five stepdaughters: Terri Vall, Amy Vall Keppler (Fred); Kelli Vall Bodey (Robert); Marilyn Vall Sharp; and Linda Vall Radakovich (Mike). She was “Grandma Judy” to 16 Grandchildren, and soon to be 12 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.

Judy prided herself on being a “good patient” and was always so thankful for the healthcare professionals that helped her over the years. She was also passionate about helping others that were not as fortunate as she was, and we had many conversations about how she could help friends and others access healthcare.
