In Loving Memory of Gregory Rhodes
Gregory Rhodes, affectionately known as Greg, was born on October 30, 1966. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law, and friend whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Gregory was the beloved husband of Denise Rhodes. He was the son of the late Janie Marie Burton Simmons and Alvin Rhodes Sr., and the son-in-law of Ms. Vernia Mae Barras.
Greg was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life and had a special love for race horses. He enjoyed working with horses, being around them, learning their ways, and spending time at the racetrack. He also loved betting on the horses, always enjoying the excitement and anticipation of seeing which horse would cross the finish line first. Greg also loved watching wrestling and enjoyed the excitement and entertainment it brought him. These were some of the things that brought Greg joy and gave him memories he could share with those around him.
Gregory leaves to cherish his memory his children: Gregory Stewart, Germika Stewart, Boneisha B. Gage, Eric Barras, Cedrica Barras, and Noelle Rhodes; his sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, Todd Gage Sr. and Allison L. Barras; his grandchildren, Todd A. Gage Jr., Ethan L. Barras, Tyrone J. August Jr., Seven Thorpe, Sage S. Thorpe, and Daislyn Williams.
He will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Elton L. Burton, Gladys Martin, and Eddie Simmons Jr.;
His brothers- and sisters-in-laws: Wayne Martin Sr., June M. Hayes, Antoinette and Ronald Hayes, Lisa M. Domino, Carl Barras, Keith and Kenyatta Barras, and Kevin and Lakeisha Barras; Nicole Young Simmons
along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Gregory was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Janie M. Burton Simmons; his father, Alvin Rhodes Sr.; his granddaughter, Audrey L. Barras; his brother, Alvin Rhodes Jr.; and his sister-in-law, Patricia A. Shelby, affectionately known as “Black.”
Gregory’s life was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His love for his family, his passion for race horses, his love of watching wrestling, his personality, and the memories he created with those around him will never be forgotten.
Though he is no longer with us in person, his love will continue to live through his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and all those whose lives he touched.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
Rest peacefully, Greg. May you find a beautiful pasture, plenty of good horses, a good wrestling match, and the winning ticket waiting for you on the other side. Until we meet again, you will always be loved and remembered.
